Well start with phone practice, like I mentioned. You can just do that from your home and it is the gentlest way of putting yourself out there. Just basically introduce yourself and ask a basic question and then move on and call another place. Is it mostly on your name that bothers you? I know that is a hard one because there is no substitution. Practice that specifically. You know you are going to stutter, so just change up the way you approach that sound. Once you are in the hard block, it can be too late. Here is kind of what I would do, in order: 1. Relax your entire face, mouth and throat area as much as you can. Get slack jawed. 2. Take a breath, and it shouldn't be deep, but enough so you have some air to breathe out before you start saying your name. 3. Let some air out before you even start voicing, and then make a soft hum. 4. Try to convert that hum to the "a" sound and then complete the word. And I do encourage you to search out and find a therapist, even if by video only. Look up reviews - try to find a good one! There are bad ones. A good therapist can give suggestions based on your specific issues and behaviors. I promise you, if you work on this and get some coping methods under your belt, you will get better at this. And once you feel like you have a tool in your belt, you will get confidence, and confidence begets further improvement, since so much of this is mental, as you know.
