Hey what’s up. I would describe my stuttering as mild moderate. But when I’m talking in class, it’s severe, cuz I get nervous. I have a bachelors and masters degree. I was working on my second master degree but I decided to pursue law enforcement. I’m 27 male living in Alabama. I have an overwhelmingly exhausting memory of stuttering in my previous MBA classes this past semester. I would literally just stutter and the rest of the cohort members would simply listen, 50 people in all of my classes. I’d die 💀internally. Like I’d say the first syllable of calculator “ which button should we press for annuities on the Calc calc calc calc (pause for 3 a second which feels like 30) calculator” Just had an interview for a police department and I memorized their mission statement. During the interview started off stuttering and ended stuttering. I stuttered through saying the mission statement. But they were impressed since I did so much background research on their department that they moved me to the next phase of the hiring process. My recommendations are to use the word stuttering in the email instead on not. The reason is that it might be like you’re trying to talk your way out of participating in the class I’ve breaker, which the professor may see this as trying get what you want, or have it your way. If you simply use the word stuttering , it can give the appearance that your labeling your disability and not asking for a crutch 🩼. Second, I tried to improve my appearance towards my classmates by sharing my studying guides and notes for tests and classes, and to do more writing and be proactive to get work done in group projects and stuff like that.
