Haha, "the SLP is being a troll!" I hope not. A lot of SLP's work with Kids (who have totally different treatment goals than those who may work with adults), I don't blame him for reacting the way he/she did. When you are kid, its important to be fluent for social acceptance etc. But when you are an adult, your very mental health, livelihood, and identity depend on your ability to communicate. My goal when I was kid was to be accepted. My goal now is to be confident about communication, pay these damn bills, and further my education/career/interpersonal relationships so maybe one day I can afford Speech therapy! It is not my goal to martyr myself in order to create acceptance and awareness in the world about about stuttering, especially in the context of a Job interview, Oral Exam or Work Presentation. But I would like to hear his rationale nonetheless less.
