Thanks for sharing, Maya! A really well-made look into those various community-building efforts. The anxiety I feel with my stutter has led me to almost entirely avoid so much as talking about my stutter with others, let alone actively seeking out a community. So I applaud everyone in the film for taking those difficult steps, especially the 11-year-old who shows a maturity, confidence, and level of self-reflection I still struggle with. Although the film shows a variety of stuttering manifestations, there's a lot more, I feel, on the severe end of the spectrum that wasn't shown. Even here on this sub, you'll read accounts of people who have a hard time getting a single sentence out. For those of us in that boat, it can be simultaneously empowering to hear these stories but also very disheartening that building a community or advocating for people who stutter or ordering what we want to order are just honestly more difficult and simply take more effort than I have in me when those are the things I would so much like to do.
