You're talking about a delayed auditory feedback (DAF) machine. It doesn't record you, you hear yourself speak as you're saying it, but with a slight delay. This effect ends up slowing down your speech. It's a great tool for speech therapy. I use it for phone calls at work. You can download a DAF app onto your phone. I downloaded one and have been using it for years. It's great.
