People in college are usually way cooler than in high school. Just be open and friendly and talk to as many people as you can (people on your floor especially, people near you in lecture, etc)and go 5o the social events. Do not sit in your room by yourself, making friends is easy at beginning when everyone is doing it. Realize everyone else is in the same boat as you.
