Not being taken seriously because of my stutter.

Not being taken seriously because of my stutter. Nobody seems to take me seriously. I have a stutter on a scale of 1-10 is a 7. Long breaks and pauses and stammers during my sentences. Lots of hand gestures. I look ridiculous when I talk. Nobody seems to give a frick frack about what I have to say. I live with roommates and they always cut me off or seem uninterested when I stutter. I held a job at fast food restaurants where customers/coworkers would demean and laugh at me for stuttering. I couldn't say "Welcome to Dominos" or "Hi, welcome to Mcdonalds". It came out so...horrible. " Hi, Wel *pause* come to Mcdonalds, howwww may I *pause* assist you?" was usually a morning laughter and stuttering over "Welcome to Domino's Pizza" made my manager frustrated with everything I said or did. Presenting in class during high school was super frustrating. My own family doesn't respect me. It's getting to the point where I believe there is a stigma that people with "disabilities" are less competent and not fully "acceptable". They (general people) see us as less competent, which is funny, because bar our verbal disability, we are just as, if not more competent than the average person. It's frustrating that I have to endure this for my ENTIRE life. I can push through it, or whatever, but this is something that negatively impacts my life, because in America, we live in a social society. And unfortunately, I'm not "socially competent". It sucks that my stuttering prevents me from accomplishing certain jobs properly, and I'm seen as inferior to someone who can stutter. Why hire someone who stutters when you can find someone who cant? All stuttering is the not same, Clumping everyone who stutters into one group is disrespectful because someone with a milder stutter generally performs better than someone with a more severe stutter. Too many times I've noticed that one can manage more with a mild stutter compared to someone with a more severe stutter and say "stop complaining, if i can do it so can you.". I wouldn't have half the issues I have if I had a milder stutter. I loathe those without the issues that stuttering, especially an "above-average" stutter brings. Unless you live in a shell and can provide for yourself non-verbally then stuttering affects your life adversely. And it sucks. Sucks that I'm socially inferior, not respected, indirectly disqualified from jobs, and when it comes down to relationships, why talk to me when you can get somebody else who doesn't stutter (someone has said that to me). And I love to debate, and stuttering during that is frustrating. Obviously, I'm not going to exacerbate this more than it is, like using hand signals and sign language, but my life is hampered because of my stuttering. And that's annoying. **Remember: A sense of humor is always good. <3:** You don't have to worry about being made fun of your stutter if you don't participate in social events.
