Can I teach English with a stutter? It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I have a degree in English language and have always loved the study of English as a language - the way people use it to create meaning, identity, creative writing etc. The only thing that is stopping me now is my stammer. I don’t even stammer now, I block and substitute words mostly. It’s has improved over the years and I can go a whole day without stammering and other times when I’m tired or sick it can be a nuisance. I’ve even stood up in front of hundreds to read from a script and have even taught small groups of children. I just want to be a good teacher and do the best for my students.
