I spent 6 years in college trying to figure out what I wanted to do and graduated a year and a half ago with a degree that isn't very marketable. I've taken jobs here and there and figured out which jobs I didn't like and which ones I did. Right now I work for a local airport shuttle service and I take people to and from the closest major airport (about an hour away). I wasnt sure how this job would go but 3 months in and I greatly enjoy it. The pay and hours might not be the greatest, but doing this job has forced me out of my shell because I have to talk to people. Hell I WANT to talk to people, something I would not have imagined a few years ago. It's definitely not a career that I want to do forever but I took the initiative to get the job and I really enjoy it. I am 26 and spent 6 of those years in school trying out different classes and subjects to see what stuck and unfortunately nothing did, but I took the easy way out and got a degree in something I enjoyed but also the thing I had the most credits for. Do I had gone for something else so I could be making more money than I am right now? Most definitely. But hey we live and learn. Everyone will be different, but you can do something. I know many PWS who do incredible careers( Journalism, Comedy, Education, Lawyers, etc). If you want more help on this stuff definitely check out the Stuttering Community group on Facebook and the StutterTalk podcast. A book that I read that has been very helpful was Out With It: How Stuttering Helped Me Find My Voice by Katherine Preston.
