My name is also one of my biggest stuttering triggers. Always has been. I now tend to use a fake name at cafes, etc. Apparently I’m much more petty than you, as I have told management about a staff members “did you forget your name” comment before. I just find it unjustifiable and rude, I’ve never met anyone who forgot their own name (and even if they did, I wouldn’t make them feel worse for it). Lots of people haven’t experienced stutters, but my god how hard can it be to form a conclusion that someone clearly has trouble speaking. I do wonder if there’s a psychological factor that makes our names harder to say.
