I’m glad he’s cool with it! That must have been such a relief. I’ve always been pretty upfront with it in relationships, even though my stutter doesn’t hold me back or impair me every single day. I’m upfront with it because one of the things I look for in a relationship is someone I can be authentic with. Someone I don’t feel the need to filter around or use my ‘tricks’ to speak fluently around. I’m currently dating a guy who’s on the spectrum, he can relate to the struggle of not being taken seriously because of communication difficulties. My openness about my own ‘social problem’ has been a pro rather than a con.
