Canadian stuttering resources are absolutely garbage

Canadian stuttering resources are absolutely garbage There isn't really a vent flair so apologies Mods, but I just want to share my frustrations being a Canadian that has explored multiple avenues concerning SLP and support groups. **Vent 1)** Why does conventional speech therapy remain archaic and redundant (at least in Canada). As an adult, paying for privatized speech therapy frustrates me knowing that LITERALLY no advancements have been made in this field since the past two decades. The same therapy/training I received from an SLP as a child in elementary school is the exact same content/techniques I am being taught now as a male in my late 20s. Mind you, I have tried multiple SLPs and they all resort to the same cookie-cutter techniques that never work in practicality. I.E.: Stretching/soft touch/diaphragmatic breathing. You can Youtube all of these for free instead of paying $100+ a session. **Vent 2)** The CSA (Canadian Stuttering Association) is useless. Why are they solely sending me E-mails of stuttering events and conferences that I have to pay for. What kind of non-profit support service is this if every single stuttering event or beneficial resource advertised directly to me comes at a cost. Shouldn't the entire premise of a stuttering association to be as helpful and resourceful for people who stutter? I am just frustrated by how every event comes with a price tag. **Vent 3)** There is generally no care, mention or awareness around stuttering in this country. I can personally observe other conditions and disabilities getting more limelight than ever, but stuttering seems to be buried in the back of the public conscience as it always has been. It just sucks to know and observe this. Overall, I am most definitely happy that awareness is rising in terms of mental health and various conditions; but stuttering seems to remain neglected as ever. Thanks for reading!
