The biggest challenge was always money – so few people are aware of the challenges and ostracization that young people who stutter face, that it is hard to pry money from funders. They don’t really take stuttering seriously so it’s hard to convince them of the desperate need for a documentary like this. So I was always going out of pocket Dash basically 90% of the film was self funded Dash and always begging borrowing and stealing for more help more exposure etc. I should add that every crew person I asked to work for free or reduced rates or to lend me some thing jumped at the opportunity because I think creative people in filmmakers by nature are empathetic and mission driven.
