Just found this subreddit but happy to share my experiences. I had a stutter all my childhood life. I think it mostly stemmed from being anxious and nervous all the time because as I got comfortable with people my speech improved. If I was nervous or intimidated by someone it would come back, obviously public speaking was extremely difficult for me. My public school had speech therapy and I was in it for 5ish years or so I believe it helped a good deal, and even though it’s not 100% gone I really don’t stutter in a daily basis. If your school has speech therapy I’d 100% recommend it. They taught me to begin my speech with an “h” sound to open the vocal pathways and it does work well for me. If I ever feel like I’m about to stutter I begin with the silent “h” sound before officially speaking. Talking slower also helped me as I’ve always been (and still am) a fast talker.
