I'm a Cybersecurity Solution Architect/Engineer. My role entails designing IT security solutions and building/implementing the designs. I do have daily project meetings where I need to give updates on progress etc, but I just keep the updates short and sweet to minimise chances of blocking. My main struggle is job interviews where I'm the most anxious. That's when my stuttering exacerbates to the point where I block pretty badly. In my day to day job where I interact with colleagues and stakeholders, I'm not too bad. I do block sometimes when explaining things, but they don't seem to mind. I find when I explain things on a whiteboard it helps a lot. In all my jobs I've pretty much ended up being a highly valued, lead designer/Engineer, and my employer has been extremely disappointed when I've resigned to go to another organisation. At the end of the day, I guess it's the quality and output of your work that matters most. If you're a hard worker that delivers, that's what counts. I guess it depends on what line of work you're in too. I tend to steer clear of roles that entail presenting to customers, such as Pre-Sales Engineering/Architect roles because I know I'm just not cut out for those sales type roles.
