I had my first speech therapy session So , I had my first session. My stuttering is Probably on the lower end of the scale. I mainly get stuck of my name so I had told my therapist that. She gave me homework and it was . Taking deep breaths from the nose and fill up my tummy and breath out a big “ ahhh” and to count how many seconds I can do this for . Practise saying the first letter of my name and record myself . She advised I should try and practise my name to random people e.g coffee shops etc when they ask for your name. What do you think of this advice for the first session ? I did mention how I believe it’s the fear of saying my name as sometimes I can just say it very smoothly no stammering at all. She advised me she deals with more of the physical side of stuttering how ever I’m thinking if I should just try CBT instead and not waste my time.
