This is absolutely key. Forcing yourself to stutter in public puts you in control of your speech. As stutterers we feel like we have no control. My therapist had me do this where I forced myself to stutter. I was very apprehensive but it was immensely freeing. My stutter is very mild now and I’ve learned that I am in control of my speech. When focused I can absolutely refuse to stutter. It is a choice you can make in your mind. It took me years (I’m in my 40s) to understand the concept of stuttering being a choice.
