As sort of an aside - for conceptual clarity, we don't even have to say things like "tricked my brain" or "the brain listened". It makes it sound like there's another agent sitting in there in our skull. But the agent is just us. :) We need only say e.g. "habitualization", and then it becomes much more clear that the effort was about working towards a different state. You weren't working with "the brain as agent" - you were just _working_. And you succeeded in getting to that different state. :)
