We need media representation, beyond the kings speech. Society as a whole, doesn’t accept anything. But there are people who would be sympathetic if they were even aware they should be. Everyone stutters at least a little bit. For fluent people it’s an occasional and mild inconvenience, that’s how they view it for everybody else. They don’t take it seriously because they don’t ever consider that it’s impairing when it happens all the time. If there were more movies and tv shows that showed our struggles, more people would clue in. Fluent people take their speech for granted.
