Your stutter is a superpower

Your stutter is a superpower So I was at this party last night and came across this guy that told me that «your stutter is a superpower». I asked why and he replied with the question «yeah because you probably have to think a lot about what words you choose and how you say these words, right?». And of course he was spot on. He went on to tell me that my stuttering is a superpower, making me choose my words wisely, and that there are a lot of people that choose their words very poorly in conversations. For those who stutter a lot, saying that stuttering is a superpower sounds like a joke. And I feel you, because I do so myself. But thinking about it, in times where I don’t stutter that much I can feel that my stutter has made me a very articulate man, proving that guys point. And I think that this is not only true for myself. I have met some stutterers in my life and they are all above average articutale people. That guy at the party last night was concerned with making our quirks into features instead of obstacles. Regarding stuttering he is absolutely right. For me this means that (even thought I’ll never get rid of this stutter) when I don’t stutter that much it is totally OK for me stuttering a little bit. Showing others that you struggle wih fluency (i.e. stuttering in front of people) is just a side affect of having this superpower that is making me choose my words wisely. Just wanted to tell this story. Hope I delivered the message clearly. Stay stong, work on yourself, and remember that even though you might not notice it: Your stuttering is a superpower!
