I used to work in a job where I had to take calls and talk to clients. I took the job as a challenge to increase my confidence and speaking skills. I was great in the interview and I spoke almost flawlessly without stuttering, which is quite a miracle and one of the best days in my life. But when I got the job I realized that I could not even say the name of the company. When my family ask me where do I work, I just say the industry, not the company name because I can't say it without stuttering so bad. The experience of talking to people as a job really boosted my confidence, but it also made my stuttering seem more apparent. There are times when I can talk fluently, and there are times where I cannot help but stutter. It came to a point where I stuttered so bad that it was almost affecting my performance, I dreaded picking up the phone. But overall it was a great experience for me and I am more confident in speaking now. I don't think my stuttering has lessened or "improved" since I still stutter every day when I go home since I stutter when I say my home address, but the confidence boost makes me communicate more effectively even with the stutter.
