I work as a firefighter, and I struggle with speaking on the radio. In normal conversations I rarely stutter anymore, mostly due to growing up and building confidence in myself, and also developing speach patterns that make my stutter less frequent and noticeable. But when talking on a the radio I can't always use my tricks to hide it. Where I have a hard time is initiating radio traffic to another unit. My Main Blocks are starting sentences with E and A sounds. So keying the mic in the radio and trying to say "engine 84" is difficult. To be honest it's a big reason I haven't promoted yet, I'm afraid of stuttering on the radio and being ridiculed for it. Firefighters are ruthless when it comes to flaws.
