I’m not sure this is helpful but I can tell you my story. Im 53 and was a lawyer for 21 years. Similar problems with speaking and bosses and colleagues. I found a speciality - contract drafting for transactions - that offered many opportunities to avoid person to person communication, though not all. It worked for me in terms of career success though now I realize that using this “avoidance approach” has long term drawbacks such as somewhat stunted social skills and some nettlesome emotional issues. I think a better path for me could have been to avoid interaction only to the extent necessary to hold the job but otherwise work hard at developing effective speaking with speech therapists, public speaking classes, assertiveness training etc. I should have done both - avoid at first but slowly hide less and less so that I could stop trying to “pass” as fluent, which tends to encourage self contempt I think.
