It's one of the first things I talk about with any new class. 1. My name. 2. I stutter. 3. How you should deal. I believe that people react better when they know what's going on. It's not my job to control other people's reactions, but things tend to go more smoothly if you "set people up for success." I teach at a predominantly suburban high school, but I also teach a pretty wide range of grade and ability levels. I've yet to have a significant problem with a student. There has been a single incidents here and there (usually after I get after a student for some reason), but it stops there. Now that I'm established, any students that want to invent issues would have to go against 18 years of history and hundreds of students (most of whom appear to have liked me).
