Identify one value that’s important to you in that situation. When speaking and interacting keep that in mind. Your mind automatically will want to refocus back to that fear of stuttering and not getting the job. When you notice that happening then try to refocus your attention back to that value. I’d recommend practising on a daily basis from now until then. You can do the following: 1- Identify a value to you (e.g Kindness) 2- Sit quietly for 5 min so you can learn to notice when your mind automatically goes to the stuttering inducing thoughts 3- Refocus your mind back to your value of Kindness 4- Notice how refocusing your attention back to kindness changes your bodily responses 5- Repeat once, twice a day or as needed until the interview. It’s important you only hold one thing in mind. Often in these situations it’s easy to start thinking about many things. “Do they like me?” “Will they reject me?” “What will they think if I stutter now?” - All these are stuttering inducing thoughts. Focus on that one thing that reflects you as a person and people will connect to your message. You’ve got this 💪🏾
