For me the advantage of the phone is that they can’t see me so I have more delay tricks that they can’t perceive. Closing eyes, nodding head a bit, making a fist, etc. Also, I can say “hm” or “ugh” more often without “looking wierd” because they can’t see me. Also, speaking more slowly and elongating vowels is easier to get away with if they can’t see you. All these things are easier with technical talk and where logic is paramount, neither of which is as important for social talking. I never had to deal with video/Zoom calls so I have no tips I’m Afraid. What kind of job do you have? Customer service, negotiation, coordination, etc.
