I had free public school speech therapy for K-12th grades, so over 10+ years, it didn't work for me, it didn't cure me. I am very very mild now in my 40s to the point where I am fluent day to day, but I do still stutter. It wasn't the speech therapy that made me more fluent, it was just experience and time. My stutter is triggered by anxiety/stress, so as I got older, I get "triggered" less.
