Imposter Syndrome and Stuttering Hi guys- this is my first post on this forum so apologies if I break any rules. I guess like the title says my stammer makes me feel like an impostor. I've just finished a degree in Modern Irish. I've gotten really high first honor grades. I can read Irish, I can write Irish and I can listen to it and I have the words in my head- I just can't get them out. Like for example, the other day I was in an online lecture and we were reading poetry. This one girl was asked to read her poem and then she lost her connection. While we were waiting to get it back, I read it with my mic turned off and was fluent but then I was stammering all over the place when it came to my poem. Likewise, I can speak Irish with my friends and family but sometimes I just flounder when doing presentations. And it just sucks, because I know I know what to say and how to say it. Even with really simple stuff like 'How's the weather?' IDK, it's like what happens in Yu-Gi-Oh! but in reverse. And it just makes me feel like an impostor because my lecturers and everything are saying I'm fluent but I'm like what's the point if I can't speak it? Was just wondering if anyone else feels like an impostor sometimes/ went through something similar?
