Parents don't understand my stutter. Making me do all the phone calling [VENT] My parents doesn't seem to understand my stutter. I come from an Asian household. And it just stresses me out. So our house was damaged by hurricane Ida which caused a huge flood that destroyed our basement. I was responsible for calling my insurance, FEMA, and my states assistance. I didn't need to do this but I took so much time doing it. My parents does not speak English well and had no idea what to do. I have 2 sibling. One is an edgy mother\*\*\* who refuses to help and do anything for the family. The other is away. So I was the only one responsible for everything. I had to call FEMA, red cross, my insurance company, and my state assistance program. I took a long time to call because It takes me so much effort & energy to even call. There was once a phone call where I contacted a FEMA agent and she hanged up on me because I had a speech block and tried to force it out but stuttered and sounded weird. When that happened, I just stopped because that completely ruined my mood. And because my insurance company takes so god damn long and have not even made a report yet, my parents keep telling me to call and only causes my to be more anxious, so all I did was emailed them. My parents are pissed that I emailed them and not call because they said calling is the only way to make them go faster. But they don't understand I need some time to call and there is a chance I may stutter.
