Depends, I'm in the US (so our healthcare system is really weird), and I'm unfamiliar with the NHS. Would the MRI be free for you? If that's the case I don't see the harm in getting one just to be 100% sure that you're completely good. If not, and you have to pay for it, you probably should consult your doctor and ask him what's best.
