Yes. When I was desperate for work a few years ago, I applied for a data entry position at this trophy and plaque manufacturer. The kind of plastic awards that might be handed out to a little league team or an employee of the month. Honestly seemed like a dreadful job, and it involved a lot of talking on the phone with clients and suppliers and dealing with this complicated-looking database system… Anyway, I aced the elementary-school level problem solving test they gave me and had a perfunctory chat with the HR rep. Then I met one of the workers who showed me what the job was like, followed by a meeting with the manager. The conversation started okay… but I started stuttering a lot, prompting the manager to ask me if I thought I “could do this job.” Of course I said yes, but she wrapped up the conversation quickly and thanked me for coming in. About a week later I received my rejection email from HR. Kinda dodged a bullet, honestly…
