You are right in everything you said, and I totally agree, that sucks. That being said, I guess people mock stuttering because out of all the possible disabilities there are, stuttering has to be one of the least affecting of life in a 360 way, isn’t it? I mean, at the end of the day we still get to move, we get to see, hear, understand the world we live in independently etc. like, out of all the possible things out there, getting stuck on words has to be one of the least threatening to your life and independence. I’m not trying to see the “glass half full” or force anyone to be optimistic about something that is hurtful, I’m just saying that I’m still thankful because my life could have been worse with any other disability worse than a stammer and nobody can take my gratitude away from me, no matter how hard society tries. The other thing that stuttering has taught me is that just like you will find enough idiots trying to ruin your day, you will also meet enough people who will be able to recognise your character and who care more about the content of your speech than the way you deliver it. And those are the people worthy of your time.
