Do you know if a stutter can happen after a stroke years later?

Do you know if a stutter can happen after a stroke years later? I've had a stutter since I was around 7. Recently my parents just told me I had a stroke when I was a newborn. That has caused some fine motor problems that I thought I was just born with but I guess not. What I'm wondering is if that could be an explanation for my stutter. Even if I didn't always have it. A co-worker at work asked me why it took me so long to remember my name when she asked. Of course I knew what my name is I just couldn't get it out. I said something along the lines of I don't know. But I'm wondering if I could just say I had a stroke or if that would be offensive to other people who had a stroke, because as I recently found out as mentioned above, I did have a stroke. I'm just not sure if it's the reason I stutter.
