Absolutely! There's no point adding stress when stress makes things worse. Some people say that avoidance is a bad thing, but it depends on the context. Pathological avoidance needs to be worked on to improve, but avoiding something unpleasant is normal. Consistently putting yourself in stressful (traumatising) situations to desensitise is like repeatedly banging your head against a wall to get used to painful headaches. We can accept when things are bad or good, what we can change, and work within those parameters. Sometimes we can make things better, or at least tolerable, sometimes we have to accept our limits but also be aware that those limits are not necessarily eternal. Keep learning and growing. Being stuck is depressing, but adapting to the circumstances can be liberating.
