This is a perfect example of misintrepretation and sensitivity. A similar phenomena I see on reddit is in the Loseit sub. There are fat people who will title posts like "How do you deal with weightloss comments" and then they have this insecure rant about how they feel that people treated them as if they were treated as invisible to people or worthless. It's the same with stuttering. Here's the reason: one of the main aspects to being is sexuality. Sexuality and attraction are a very strange and miscellaneous thing however, we do know that attraction is universal in terms of appearance of health and body/facial symmetry (as well opposite sex typically attract) and also that, if we deem the person attractive we will inherently treat them more fairly in almost every aspects of living. I couldn't fathom that this is controversial, but a fat person contributes just as much unattractiveness as a stuttering does in the sense that their health is displayed for all to see. A stutter is a symbol of the genetic insufficiencies of the stutterer just as the weight of a person is the symbol of a poor lifestyle and ultimately deemed genetically insufficient to a potential mate... mostly. My point is that having a stutter is automatically seen as a genetic deficiency and you may be mistreated more than usual because of that. My advice would be to take such comments as an attempt to be kind and not take it in a way that was offending.
