M17, non-stutterer here. As some other people have said here already, people are considerate. Unless theyre total jerks, they will not laugh at you due to your stutter. More likely is that they simply do not know how to react and laughing is the default response of the brain for such situations. I know this quite well as it got me into uncomfortable situations quite a few times.
