My elementary school speech therapist gave me a wooden block and had me color stripes on it. We practiced reading sentences and she had me tap the next color for each word. After a while I was able to develop a rhythm in my speech that came subconsciously. 20 years later I still use the concept when I feel I might struggle on a specific word by tapping my finger, light foot tap. Helps me "get over the hill" releasing tension and continue speaking. Doesn't work all of the time but it helps
