There are different degrees/types of stuttering, a spectrum of impact. I think everyone begins on one end and a combination of a sensitive temperament and no effective treatment, they progress towards other end. On one end, someone has repetitions but isn’t bothered by it. Toward the middle, they are bothered by it, and try to hide it (covert stuttering). On other end, trying to hide it makes stutter more noticeable, they feel worse, and find more ways to avoid talking (single sentences to entire careers/social interactions etc). So there are definitely people who are impacted socially/career-wise, etc due to their stutter. When someone on this sub gives the advice to not be bothered by what other people think of your stutter, be aware they sorta “have” a different type of stutter. It’s *definitely* good advice, but without proper treatment, not an immediate realistic goal for some people.
