I have generally had a pretty unpleasant experience with others, people often assume I am incompetent and quite slow. I am often treated like a child and called 'cute' or 'just a bit withdrawn' by acquaintances. I am also quite attractive (generally) and therefore more likely to be described as mean or self-absorbed (because I avoid people like the plague) when in reality I am just terrified of stuttering in front of others. Men often say that women who stutter have it a lot easier, but from personal experience I can confirm that nothing could be further from the truth.
