Brain Stimulation is not the future of treatments or just stimulations imposed on the wrong brain areas? [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3080297/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3080297/) >One of the patients had a history of developmental stuttering, whereas the other patient first developed stuttering years after receiving a diagnosis of PD. The main problem for both patients was difficulty in speech initiation, with blocks and repetitions at word onset. Stuttering improved somewhat in the first postoperative months, but remained a problem in daily life for patient 1. The effect of neurostimulation on stuttering was clearly associated with its effects on motor functions in these two patients, and both patients had marked improvements of motor fluctuations and dyskinesias. In addition, in both patients the speech fluency improved considerably when the neurostimulator was turned off. Since stutter is a neurological disorder relevant to some brain areas' misfiring and dysfunctions, I came up an idea that maybe in the future, there will be new treatments resembling Deep Brain Stimulation, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and etc., which can permanently eradicate stutter, for they can modify and repair abnormal brain activities and dysfunctions somehow. But this study ruined my anticipations of Brain Stimulation Therapy to be promising in becoming a future new treatment of stutter cuz it indicates that the subthalamic neurostimulations aggravated two Parkinson's disease patients' stutters although their motor functions and dyskinesias were improved at the same time(So maybe meantime it infers that the previous studies that can prove motor functions are relevant to stutter are upside-down wrong?). Personally I figured out the reason why Brain Stimulation Therapy could aggravate their stutters was that the neurostimulations were imposed onto the wrong brain areas, for there are other abnormal brain areas found out in PWS's brains, such as hearing areas, inferior temporal gyruses and etc. I still can predict in the future, the new treatments that can permanently cure stutter are relevant to neurostimulating therapies or neuro-altering therapies like Brain Stimulation Therapy or other can straight alter human brains' neuros (I'm not very expertise at Neurology, sorry)
