People think my stuttering is Tourette syndrome I am a 20 year old male and for most of my life, have had the habit of trying to physically force my words out when I'm in a challenging speech situation. I tend to jolt my head, lift myself out of my chair when I'm sitting, and take sudden steps backwards when I'm standing. Is there any way to break this habit of using physical means to get my words out? I was meeting with someone from career advising at my college and she said she "assumed" I had Tourettes and that it may be "distracting" to employers. Is there any way to reconcile this problem?
