I feel like this is semantics. Repetitions/prolongations are perfectly fine. Extreme blocks/panic/avoidance behaviors/frequently saying untrue things bc the truth wouldn’t come out, often leading to isolation is something that warrants proper addressing. That’s great that you are able to make it count at your workplace. However, if you struggle with tone/timing/cadence and your job involves discussing complex emotionally sensitive topics (such as a family/child therapist), then getting the tone wrong can entirely change your message. In a family therapy session where the mom is known to have anger issues, child says “mom burned me with curling iron when doing my hair” Therapist experiencing blocking, long pause, scrunched up face, said in partially robotic tone - “Ok, tell me more” This happened to me and I was not thinking of automatically filing (CPS) because it could have been an honest mistake, but the mom was terrified I was going to file because my response was “weird”. She immediately shut down. Because of many instances like that, I opted to resign shortly after.
