Is my manager crossing the line?

Is my manager crossing the line? I just started a job a few weeks ago as a software engineer and I get blocks pretty bad, especially when speaking in front of a large group. My boss brought this up in a one-on-one meeting explaining how I need to relax, think about what I'm going to say before I say it, the usual. I explained to him that it's a speech disorder and I can't control it, I know exactly what I want to say I just can't make the sounds. He still didn't seem to get it. I explained even my father has this issue and it's something that can be passed down, it's out of my control. He then asked if I've had speech therapy in the past which felt pretty intrusive, I said yes (which is a lie, I just wanted to leave at this point), and he says I should "try to find ways to fix this issue". This whole thing caught me off guard as nobody has ever really approached me about my stuttering before. I hate it as much as other people do listening to me and really want to fix it but I feel like this conversation with my boss will just make me clam up even more. Really just feel like disappearing right now.
