Stutter carrying into new language learning My stutter and stammer/blocks are moderate to severe. I've always been good at picking up on languages and memorizing.. but of course the cruel joke is the omnipresent stutter so I can't really speak. Lately I've been learning Spanish. Sadly, the stutter has carried into me trying to practice and I look like a fool with the online tutor I have. I already told her I'm a stutterer and that I'm hoping it won't carry over with Spanish. I can tell she felt sorry for me when she saw oh yes indeed it carried over. Anyone have any tips? When life goes back to normal I plan on travelling and would LOVE to practice in real life.. I don't see how this can happen if I can't even spit out a sentence. What helps me in English is quickly trying to find words I feel I can say in the moment to prevent a block I feel coming. Consciously staying relaxed and speaking verrryyy slowly. Not doing imitation or joke voices, sets me off into a stammering and blocks fit. That's the only coping mechanisms that have helped me so far with the only language I speak.
