I'm 21. Until a couple of years ago, I was very conscious of my stutter. I was scared to speak up and all. Two years ago, I finally opened up and spoke to my sister. I told her everything, how I feel: all the fear, anxiety, helplessness. What this majorly did was, change my opinion how other people think about me and gave a confidence to speak up and stutter openly (though this took sometime). Slowly, I opened up about my problem with stutter with my uncle (who also stutters), my mom and recently, my dad. Especially, my mom and dad were pretty shocked to see the burden I've been carrying all along. Now, I openly stutter (though, sometimes even now I try avoiding few speaking situations), and I am happy to discuss about my stutter with anyone who asks about it. :)
