For most people, it breaks the tension to tell others upfront that they have a stutter, makes everyone feel more comfortable right away. But if you can help it, don't apologize for having a stutter. You have nothing to apologize for! You're just letting them know you have this thing so that's why it might take you a little longer to say things. You know?
