Depends on their tone. Maybe once in a blue moon, my wife might say a word she knows I'm struggling with. For the most part she doesn't, but she can tell when I'm struggling really bad. And if I'm at a restaurant and I am obviously trying to get a word out but can't, if they immediately do it and sound frustrated, then that's when I take it personal. But you can tell if they think they are genuinely thinking they are helping you.
