I am an interpreter/translator. I failed my first interview since I was inexperienced graduate who stutters like hell. Interviewers even told me to go home :) Then I become very angry with myself and began to fix this issue by trying tongue twisters, singing and doing breathing exercises, though without traceable success. In a year I got my first job without any interview, just arrived to the field with all required papers and started my job. This is when I faced the need to communicate with people every day. I guess this helped me a lot, because I was not only translating but helping with administrative activities like making calls, using radio and act as an assistant as well. And my supervisor had a stutter issue back in his childhood so he shared experience with me, it was useful. Then I changed the employer and it was mainly written work, so I was good with my stutter. Current position requires me to make public address announcements, and sometimes it is hard to do. You can see my story in feed of this community, I still have stutter sometimes when the stress is unbearable, but at least I have stopped bothering with stutter.
