Speech therapy is great! But I feel like psychotherapy might be helpful for you, too. For me, my stutter became less of an obstacle in everyday life once I worked through some of the trauma that came with being a stutterer who was bullied and assaulted growing up. If cost is an obstacle, there’s sometimes alternatives available (such as sliding scales for fees, shorter-term therapy, etc.) depending on where you’re located. I found that therapy helped break that loop I was experiencing where my stutter was the cause of a lot of my depression and anxiety, but also my stutter worsened due to that same depression, anxiety, and trauma.
