I can confirm that what you said is true. Ive been thinking and taking action in a similar way for about 5 months now, and the result has been amazing, I have made progress in these past 5 month regarding social and friendship. I feel much better overall and finally do not see my stutter as an obsticle for my success in life. When I stay natural and do not let stutter control my personality, thats where the magic happens, people start liking me and Ive made good friendships in these past months. I no longer hate my stutter, I dont like it either and its just there as my personality, part of who I am, a unique me.
